About
Type it right. The note lands.
A full typing test (many modes, progress tracked session after session, themes, sounds, instant feedback on every typo), built around one idea: music. Every correct keystroke fires the next note of a real piano piece; a mistake plays nothing, never a wrong note. Your ear catches the slip before your eyes do, and the piece only sounds right when you type right. You practise longer, without watching a clock, because the reward is not a number: it is a melody taking shape under your fingers.
The manifesto
The score only moves when you type it right. The piece already exists in full; your typing is the baton.
- Right key
- the next note of the piece plays.
- Mistake
- nothing. Never a wrong note, only silence.
- Backspace
- the mistake is cleared and the music resumes under a veil of reverb.
- Your tempo
- follows your typing rhythm. The octave keeps a fixed pattern per word: only the tempo reacts.
The music
Pieces are read from real public-domain MIDI files, then rendered by a sequencer that advances one note at a time. No loop, no pasted sample: it is the whole piece, revealed as you type.
The modes
- Time
- Type as much as you can over a chosen duration: 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds.
- Words
- A word count to reach: 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- Quote
- A full quotation, credited to its author and its work.
- Zen
- No timer, no word goal. You move at your own pace.
- Code
- Real code snippets, punctuation and digits included.
- Learning
- Five progressive levels, from the home row to the full keyboard.
- Ghost
- A cursor replays your best record while you type.
- Custom
- Your own texts, pasted once and kept in the browser.
The corpus
Five text collections: literature, poetry, philosophy, gaming, code. Everything is public domain or royalty-free: author dead for more than seventy years, verifiable source (Wikisource, Project Gutenberg), language noted for every entry. The full criteria are in the repository's CONTRIBUTING file.
literature · poetry · philosophy · gaming · code

Glossary
- WPM
- Gross words per minute: the number of characters typed divided by five, per minute. Every keystroke counts, right or wrong.
- Net WPM
- The same calculation, but only correct characters count. A mistake is never penalised twice.
- Accuracy
- The share of correct keystrokes out of every keystroke in the session.
- Consistency
- How steady your pace is. The session is split into five-second windows; the closer the speeds are from one window to the next, the higher the consistency.
